Welcome to Grade 11 Biology! This course will help you gain a deeper understanding of the processes that occur in biological systems.  Students will study theory and conduct investigations in the areas of biodiversity; evolution; genetic processes; the structure and function of animals; and the anatomy, growth, and function of plants. The course focuses on the theoretical aspects of the topics under study and there is a strong emphasis placed on developing those skills related to scientific investigation.

 

 

Important Information

 

  • May 19th, 2016: There will be a chapter quest on Monday, May 23rd.
    •  The quest will cover all of the chapter on circulation with the exception of
      • "The Lymphatic System"
      • "The Cardiac Cycle" and all of heartbeats (page 497-500) 
      • All of section 11.6 
    • Make sure you know the section on page 496 entitled "Circulation" and can explain Figure 2

    • You should know the names and parts of the organs, the names/locations/functions of digestive enzymes, and the issues involved in the system.

  • February 15th, 2016: There will be a unit test on Monday, February 22nd.  It will cover genetics and DNA

  • November 9th, 2015: There will be a unit test on Friday, November 20th.

  • October 9th, 2015: There will be a quiz on Wednesday, October 14th.
