Grade 10 students write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. This test is a requirement for graduation. All grade 9 and 10 teachers should keep in mind the various components of the literacy test and assist in preparing our students.

Writing a News Report
Writing a series of paragraphs expressing an opinion on a given topic

Use knowledge and personal experience while demonstrating writing skills
Multiple-Choice Questions
Three tasks that demonstrate the following writing skills:
- developing a main idea with sufficient supporting details;
- organizing information and ideas in a coherent manner and
- using conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) in a manner that does not distract from clear communication.
